Here's a fun fact - The Russian Imperial Stout exploded all over the room where I had it fermenting. Hey........it was my first batch!
My friends all said they liked my beer. I feel they were being sincere.
The problem has been that I haven’t liked them. There always seemed to be some “off-flavors.” Maybe that was due to my sharp palate. Maybe because I have perfectionist tendencies and am rarely satisfied. Maybe because I just need to keep working at this craft. To brew and bottle a small batch of beer (2 cases worth), it can take 6 hours or more. That’s a lot of time and effort put in to be disappointed.
I took a break from brewing for almost a year due to this frustration. That was my loss.
I got the itch again, and brewed an Irish Stout last month. I used my own recipe for the first time, and included some dark coffee, vanilla and cinnamon.
I could try one today. But will I?
