Achievable Goals Are The Key To Progress

Setting achievable goals is a key to building momentum for positive change
We all set goals for ourselves. They could be related to achieving things in our career and also milestones in our personal lives. One of the most important aspects of setting goals is making sure they’re achievable. How does this work for us?
Oftentimes, we set unrealistic goals for ourself, don’t achieve those unrealistic goals, and then are down on ourselves that we didn’t achieve them. This can lead to mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, burnout, sleep issues, relationship concerns, career challenges and more. The reality usually is not our effort, but in setting the goal. For example, let’s say we have a to do list for today that has 10 things on it. A more realistic list would have 3 things. At the end of the day, we complete 4 things. Because our goal was unrealistic at 10 things, we view the day in a negative light. The reality is we actually over-achieved because a more realistic list was 3 and we did 4. The facts are the same, but how we view the day differs on how we manage our expectations. Setting achievable goals is a key to building momentum for positive change.
