Here’s one example: You’ve tried everything, but that difficult person just won’t change. Sometimes the right move is to just cut that person out of your life. But what if you can’t do that because it would affect other people you care about or you have to work with that person? Acceptance of something you can’t control isn’t approval. It’s a way to better manage emotions and move forward. It’s about being proactive in caring for your mental health instead of being reactive and getting upset whenever predicable things happen. Acceptance is not usually attained immediately, but if you work on it, you can get there. And it will make you more resilient in facing other challenges.
