How Can I Get Better At Managing Anger?Picture
Anger is a normal human emotion that we all experience. However, the degree of frequency, intensity and duration of that anger can vary dramatically depending on the person. So how can we keep this emotion at appropriate levels so things don’t get out of hand?
Someone cuts you off driving and no one likes that. But one person can be irritated for a moment but let it go and another can turn it into a road rage incident. Internalizing and burying anger can lead to mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, burnout, challenges with sleep, strains in relationships, career problems and more. First we need to gain more insight into ourselves and understand the fundamental question of why. In other words … why do we react strongly to certain triggers? Why can’t we let go of historical issues that no longer directly affect our lives? The answers always seems to be due to some combination of our biology and our life experiences. Once we gain this insight, we can create a strategy and work on the underlying issues to learn how to better manage stress and unpredictable events. Over time, this can lead to thought and behavior change that can last a lifetime. Find healthy ways to let go of anger. More peaceful times will follow.
