How do I feel better about myself?
It would be great if we were all confident and felt good about ourselves all the time. That’s typically not the case. But how people feel can vary from being frustrated about how a presentation went at work to having a systemic negative impression of yourself and all that you do. Having a consistent negative self-image can make progressing in careers and personal life very difficult. It can lead to mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, alcohol abuse and others.
Self-confidence and positive self-worth are things that are impacted throughout our lifetimes. Not everyone grew up in a nurturing environment with positive reinforcement. But everyone can improve. Things that can help include taking the time each day to work on gratitude, countering negative self-talk with positive affirmations, gaining insight into why you think the way you do, working on acceptance and loving yourself, and many more.
