How Spending Time In Nature Can Relieve Stress

Spend time connecting with nature to relieve stress. Take care and be well. Rich Lombino, Therapist & Lawyer
We all experience stress. Sometimes it’s due to work, sometimes personal life, and other times it may be both at the same time. The stress may be brief, but there’s many ongoing stressors that can last days, weeks or even longer. Whether it’s short or long term, having a number of coping skills that work for you can make a difference in how the stress affects you both mentally and physically.
One area of relief for many comes from spending time connecting with nature. For those who work in an office or even in a home office, most waking hours are spent inside. Getting outside to look at the trees, the birds and other animals, a lake or stream and other items of beauty can release the negative feels and focus back on the big picture of all that is going well in your life. Take the time every day to go outside as you are able, even if only for 5 minutes. Take a walk through your neighborhood or drive to a park and walk or just sit on a bench. When you’re doing this activity, take a break from your phone and checking email and messages. Try to really focus on what’s around you and the beauty of it all.

If you’d like to learn more about coping skills and other ways to improve your mental health, contact me today for a free consultation. Take care and be well. - Rich Lombino, Therapist & Lawyer
