So What’s A First Therapy Session Like?

​You’ve done it. Decided to work on getting better and make some changes. Then you made the call to a therapist. Discussed briefly your concerns and why you’re calling, and then scheduled a time to meet. Feel good about this because it can be difficult for all of us to ask for help, and you did it! So what happens at your first therapy session? ...
... The first time you and I meet the main goal is for us together to understand what your primary concerns are and how we can go about improving them. We’ll come up with a treatment plan that provides more details on these concerns, ways we can work together, and a preliminary timeline so we can track progress.​

I want you to feel as comfortable as possible and encourage you to share what you can. I’ll never pressure you to say anything. It’s all about what you’re ready to discuss. We’ll take things at a pace that works for you. Keep in mind the more you share, the more I’ll know, and the better I can help you.  

In addition to asking you questions, I’ll answer questions you may have. We’ll set up another time to meet the following week or sooner. I look forward to seeing you.
